A Strike for South African EducationFor 20 days, South African public schools and hospitals locked their doors as union members protested for higher wages and greater housing subsidies. The nuanced view of South Africa’s public sector strike is the recognition of both the benefits gained from a union strike and the harm potentially incurred on schoolchildren in the process. Education is a human right that, when violated, becomes a matter of social injustice.

Gaza – The Perverse Wrong Vs Right Advocacy Re Palestinians – Arabs, United Nations, IsraelUnited Nations General Assembly Resolution 31/15 says it clearly: Israel must stop helping Palestinian-Arabs move out of the overcrowded, squalid UN Refugee camps in Gaza and into homes they would help Israel build, then own! UNGAR 31/15 – “[C]alls once more upon Israel: (a) To take effective steps immediately for the return of the refugees to the camps from which they were removed in the Gaza Strip; and (b) To desist from further removal of refugees and destruction of their shelters. Seeking peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians, they began building homes for them, moving them from the squalid over-crowded UN refugee camps into which their Arab brethren had forced them (only Jordan accepted some Palestinian refugees); also seeking protection against further Arab attacks, Israel began building protective Jewish settlements in Gaza (as Americans had done in the US to safeguard themselves against Indian raiding parties). Why would the UN take such anti-humanitarian actions that only penalized poor Palestinian refugees?
